September 16: A day filled with nostalgia as we honor the past while dancing to new tunes from Anne Wilson!

September 16, 2024, was a momentous day, showcasing a delightful blend of nostalgia and music that brought smiles even amidst solemn reflections. One of the highlights was the remarkable surprise for Wetmore by Cindy Mabe, UMG Nashville Chair & CEO, and Rakiyah Marshall, CEO of Back Blocks Music. Picture the joy in navigating that full circle moment—a real testament to hard work and dedication in the music industry! It’s always uplifting to see how the community rallies to celebrate its talents.

While music lovers were buzzing with excitement, the city of Quincy took a practical turn as it prepared for street beautification. Tree pruning within the city right of way was scheduled to begin in November, reminding us that even as we jam to tunes, a little upkeep is essential to keep our environment looking fresh. A friendly reminder that the branches swaying above us also need some TLC!

In reflecting on today’s events, we also pause to remember the tragic history etched into September 16—specifically the Washington Navy Yard shooting. This dreadful event, where Aaron Alexis claimed the lives of twelve individuals, serves as a solemn reminder of the fragility of life and the need for a supportive community in overcoming trauma. However, it is also the resilience in the face of hardship that ignites hope and appreciation for those who work tirelessly to protect us.

Amidst all the reflections and preparations, music enthusiasts were treated to new tunes as ANNE WILSON released her first song since her acclaimed album REBEL. Her blend of genres continues to speak to the myriad emotions we struggle with, making each release a soundtrack for moments big and small. Meanwhile, fans could look forward to Weezer gracing the Bridgestone Arena stage the following day, promising a night of nostalgic rock that could lift spirits even higher!

Speaking of musical nostalgia, did you know that Weezer was initially formed in 1992 and has remained relevant in the rock circuit ever since? It seems that their tunes are like fine wine—only getting better with time! On a different note, tree pruning not only beautifies our surroundings but also plays a vital role in promoting healthier tree growth, ensuring we enjoy ample shade for years to come! Staying informed and entertained makes every September 16 worthwhile!
