Davido's 'Timeless' became the first and only afrobeats album to debut all tracks in the top 100 of the Apple Music top songs chart for the UK. The album sold over 1 million copies on its first day of release, breaking the previous record held by Burna Boy. The album broke the previous record set by another Nigerian artist, Burna Boy, with his Grammy-winning album "Twice as Tall."

Amazingly, Timeless is Number One in the Apple music top album charts of 20 African countries, including Nigeria, Ghana.

Even after one week of releasing the album, it has not featured in any of the Apple music album charts of any country apart from Ghana, where it is Number Two. Is Afrobeats crowding out Western music in Africa because R&B/soul lost its melodious sounds to hip-hop, and Jamaican dancehall killed the sweet melodies of classical reggae? But the continental reach of the new, high tempo soukous music is limited and amapiano is being incorporated into afrobeats by Nigerian artists. Timeless is Number One in the Apple music top album charts of five European countries, in the top five in 10 countries, and in the top 20 in nineteen countries. What is clear is that afrobeats has been able to combine the powerful and sweet melodic style of R&B with lively, intricate, and rhythmic African percussion sounds. Almost 70% of the globally recorded music is controlled by three companies: Universal Music Group (32.1%), Sonny Music Entertainment (20.6%) and Warner Music Group (15.9%). Amazingly, Timeless is Number One in the Apple music top album charts of 20 African countries, including Nigeria, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Cameroon, Mozambique, Mali and Mauritius; and is Number Two in South Africa, Democratic Republic of Congo, Congo-Brazzaville, Guinea-Bissau and Seychelles. To underscore the extraordinary impact of Timeless, it is the ninth most streamed album in Apple’s worldwide music album chart in the first 24 hours of its release. It was clear that the album’s US success was not a fluke: it was Number One in the UK Apple music top albums chart, Number 14 in Germany, Number 17 in France, Number 12 in Italy, and Number 24 in Switzerland, on lists that have 200 albums in each country. The album has also penetrated countries in the larger Asian market, such as India (Number 52), Malaysia (Number 6), Philippines (Number 20), Singapore (Number 25), Indonesia (Number 101), Vietnam (Number 104), and Thailand (Number 128). It’s as much a reinforcement of who we know Davido to be, as it is a feat in self-assuring conviction. On songs with younger artists, he uses his star power in a complementary role, giving Morravey and Logos Olori — the two newly-signed acts to his Davido Music Worldwide imprint — leeway to stretch their contributions into memorable appearances. Spotify, a global online streaming platform, says Davido's music is the most streamed in the United Kingdom, Nigeria, Canada and France.

Meanwhile, another music streaming platform, Audiomack, in a post on Monday on Twitter, said Davido’s ‘Timeless’ album had over 12 million streams in 24 hours, adding that this was the first time an album would achieve such a feat on the app.
