While a European coach would boost Brazil's World Cup hopes, it's ... (ESPN)

South American coaches have had success at European sides -- as proved by the likes of Diego Simeone, Mauricio Pochettino and Manuel Pellegrini. But Brazilians ...

Spells in charge of a club are often so short that it is difficult to judge the work of the coach. Fans expect it, some of the media are usually pushing for it, directors use it to take the heat away from themselves. Many of the clubs and their fans have unrealistic expectations. The country is not supplying any coaches to the competition and has not done so for some time, bar a short and unsuccessful spell of Sylvinho with [Lyon](/soccer/team?id=167) back in 2019. The proximity between the countries allows for the cross-fertilisation of ideas, with the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and Germany all enjoying recent spells of ideological supremacy. One of his former players advised him against -- there would simply not be enough of his beloved time on the training ground. The answer here surely has much to do with the way that domestic Brazilian football operates. The development of the back four, for example, is rarely mentioned. Credit for success has always gone to the individual genius of the players. Once Pele and company had won three World Cups in four tries, it was conveniently forgotten that the intense tactical work of the 1940s and '50s had a strong influence from the likes of Uruguay's Ondino Viera and Bela Guttman from Hungary, both who found success in the domestic game in Brazil. Indeed, there is not a single strong Brazilian candidate for the vacant job as Brazil's national team coach. Their coaches are simply not in demand -- highlighted by the fact that they have lost space at home.

I was with a Brazilian beauty day we defeated Brazil at Olympics ... (The Punch)

Retired goalkeeper Emmanuel Babayaro opens up on life in retirement, why he didn't play in Europe, winning Olympic gold in 1996 and more, in this in this ...

It dawned on me that the only way I could speak against the system was when I was no longer part of the system, so I decided to quit. I think for us, we had the determination to do our best, but I think what let us know we could beat Brazil was when we played in the group stage and they defeated us 1-0. I actually just found out maybe last year that it was missing, I thought it was always where I kept it and I think it was probably during the moment of changing houses that someone who may have thought it was real gold picked it up. I think the lowest point of my career was when I finally decided to retire. The moment they did that I signalled that no one should worry anymore, that we had won the match because he was the only one that held us. She was one of the volunteers at the Olympics. Maybe it was not meant to work out, maybe the name was for me to use to do the work of God. We were that good, but before the Olympics, we never believed we were that good to beat Brazil. Everybody was at his peak, everybody was at his best and everybody wanted to don the Nigerian colours and be on the pitch for Nigeria. Growing up, I thought I was going to be a musician or an actor, football was accidental, it just so happened that I was so good at it. You miss the glitz and the razzmatazz, the profession and the fame at that time. The game was the game when I played it.

Fighting for inclusion and justice in Brazil's Amazonas capital ... (Greenpeace International)

Renata Peixe-Boi, of the Mura Indigenous group, is the founder of the Boca da Mata communal kitchen that provides healthy, balanced meals. She points out that ...

With future generations in mind, they have set in motion a transformational change in their community through empowering women and Indigenous communities, who are fighting for the important principle of inclusion, justice and diversity. Located in the crime-ridden outskirts of one of Brazil’s most unequal and violent metropolises, children and young people at Parque das Tribos are vulnerable to coercion from crime. The kitchen therefore is also a political space of empowerment where women living in the city can exchange ideas and learn from each other, as Indigenous women from different groups and realities, as well as practise or re-learn their traditional languages – and then transmit these languages to their children. “And today there is the Parque das Tribos. These inspirational women at Parque das Tribos are showing us what can be achieved when we put the well-being of everyone, and especially women, children and young people, before profit. Such migration patterns to the city are extremely common and are usually driven by the search for work, education, healthcare and other infrastructure. “The city does not offer this possibility of these exchange spaces.” In its first Indigenous neighbourhood, [Parque das Tribos](https://racismoambiental.net.br/2022/02/21/parque-das-tribos-mulheres-indigenas-lideram-resgate/), founded in 2014 on an abandoned plot of land and home to some 750 families from more than 30 ethnic groups, people are connecting younger generations with their roots to help counter the alienation they feel in the modern world. She points out that fresh food is a class issue and many residents in the community consume too much ultra-processed food, usually due to lack of income, availability or conditions to keep fresh food. “For those who live in this culture, it’s very different if you eat, for example, manioc that is freshly harvested the day before,” she said. [ideas](https://sites.google.com/greenpeace.org/alternative-futures-allies/home) about how humankind can live in a modern world and counter the neoliberal, capitalist system. Despite these challenges, the Parque das Tribos community members have worked together for the collective good.

Agricultural certification stimulates compliance with environmental ... (Phys.Org)

Agricultural certification can act as an incentive for coffee growers and other farmers to comply with laws designed to protect the environment, ...

The authors attribute this difference to more efficient law enforcement and higher civil society awareness in the region, as well as more technical expertise in forest restoration. They then defined and calculated a set of characteristics that could influence the probability of certification, including the size of the property, the amount of natural plant cover, and the rate of deforestation or regeneration, in order to arrive at a group of certified farms and uncertified controls. They concluded that it had not, partly because the certified properties analyzed in the study were in "consolidated" agricultural areas, where land use has not changed significantly for a considerable period. "We didn't observe a direct cause-and-effect relationship between certification and deforestation or natural regeneration, but certification can apparently serve as an additional incentive to comply with the legislation, confirming that the synergy has beneficial effects," said Francisco d'Albertas Gomes de Carvalho, first author of the article and currently a postdoctoral researcher in data science at the International Institute for Sustainability (IIS Rio). They chose the first certification as the cutoff date. Flipper Zero Devices Being Seized by Brazil's Telecom Agency (EFF)

You may have heard of the Flipper Zero. It's marketed as a “Portable Multi-tool Device for Geeks”—a programmable portable device packed with hardware that ...

Denying certification to Flipper Zero doesn't prevent the use of other tools to exploit the same vulnerabilities, as it doesn't stop people from bringing a Flipper Zero from abroad in their bag without having to ship it through the Brazilian border. Despite the legitimate uses of a Flipper Zero, Anatel has chosen to focus on the possibility of illegal usage of the device. What is novel about the Flipper Zero is its form factor and interface, which make it portable and easy to use in the field. The Flipper Zero has clear uses: penetration testing to facilitate hardening of a home network or organizational infrastructure, hardware research, security research, protocol development, use by radio hobbyists, and many more. Anatel then decided not to certify the equipment, and seize it as a result—not allowing the Flipper Zero to proceed to its final destination. As with other radio frequency emitting devices, when the Flipper Zero is shipped to the country, the national post office intercepts and redirects the device to Anatel for certification.
