Thanks to John Longhurst for raising some important questions, not only about the use of AI in developing sermons, but more importantly about the very nature of preaching. The Americans and Russians are still actively doing so. The funds for this pilot can then be diverted to meaningful safety improvements at known problem intersections. If these changes become permanent for designated communities such as Bourkevale, can we assume that the local residents of these enclaves will have no problem covering this increased cost through their taxes? Inevitably, street art and other optional improvements become part of such projects as the scope grows. As a bike commuter, avid walker and car enthusiast, I would like to comment on the speed-reduction pilot program, and why it may not be a good use of tax dollars. This is such a tragedy and failure of government; they should be creating tax credits or some other means of subsidizing those who are not able to get into these subsidized centres. The problem with this province is that there are only a few such facilities, with very long wait lists. So now we are relying on my mother-in-law to provide two days of care a week; thankfully, she is retired and in good shape. We followed up with all facilities whose lists we were on every couple of months and kept getting the same annoyed answers that we are on their waiting list. Corporate CEOs will shrug their shoulders and defensively say their job is to protect shareholders’ bottom-line interests. Or could it be that the unlimited-profit objective/nature is somehow irresistible?

[reports](https://www.semafor.com/article/03/06/2023/a-historic-drought-is-battering-argentinas-fragile-economy). Many registered spills occur as a result of pipeline breaks, industrial plant leaks, and vehicular accidents — such as the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, [earlier this month](https://www.circleofblue.org/2023/daily-stream/the-stream-february-15-2023-concerns-over-water-pollution-mount-in-wake-of-ohio-train-derailment/). [Ongoing Battle to Keep Toxic Chemicals at Bay](https://www.circleofblue.org/2023/world/ongoing-battle-to-keep-toxic-chemicals-at-bay/)— A growing array of contaminants threaten Michigan’s rivers, lakes and drinking water systems, and many of them are still unregulated. According to the [New York Times](https://www.nytimes.com/2023/02/16/climate/argentina-drought.html#:~:text=Lack%20of%20rainfall%20that%20caused,the%20drought%20worse%2C%20they%20said.), this continued lack of rain was not caused by climate change — however, the extreme heat waves that hit central South America in November and December were attributable to global warming’s effects. Still, the Atlantic of today is a far cry from what it once was — more than 85 percent of the forest’s 330 million acres has been destroyed. Though only a fraction of the size of the Amazon, Brazil’s Atlantic Forest harbors nearly an equal amount of biodiversity. And though, from 1985 to 2020, forest cover has remained statistically stable, these numbers are bolstered by the growth of new trees and young vegetation — since 1985, 25 million acres of mature, primary vegetation has been lost. YE360 also reports that countries are reconsidering their current dam proposals, and advocating for parts of the Mekong and its watersheds to become designated UNESCO heritage sites, which would grant further environmental protections. A combination of climate change, pollution, and overfishing further strained the Mekong, which some had written off as an unsavable ecosystem. Notably, large-scale dam development upstream blocked the flow of important sediments and nutrients, which worsened water quality and caused harmful erosion downriver.

Horoscopes today - Russell Grant's star sign forecast for Wednesday ... (Daily Express)

TODAY'S horoscope has one star sign drawing upon an old skill, while another needs to focus on what's important to them. What else can you expect?

By this evening you will want to clear the air and achieving this won’t be anywhere near as difficult as you imagine. You have too much to do and you won’t want to be bickering with someone close for too long. It will mean a lot to you if your partner or someone who is equally as close approves of the ideas you have for the future. It’s too easy to blame others for distracting you and diverting you away from what you should be doing. It may not be immediately apparent that someone is trying to make money for a good cause but once you find out what this is, you won’t need any further encouragement to offer your support. As much as things seem to be in turmoil as the day begins, they will settle.

The importance of taking to the streets on March 8 (EL PAÍS in English)

Today is March 8 and it is very hot in Mexico City, even at night. The streets have been filling with jacarandas in bloom and later they will be filled with ...

And so, we return to that character who rants against feminists and the fourth transition, on whose office wall hangs a diploma from the Marist Fathers’ school he attended and who lights a cigarette with the stub of one he is about to finish when the friend I am with and I tell him that we are feminists and that, in fact, we are going to go to the march: “Ah, gee... As the philosopher Gadamer says: “The rite is not a way of speaking, but a way of acting.” That is also true of a march where individuality does not matter, but what the collective has to say. It seems that we are uncomfortable for the government, that we are uncomfortable for many, but the reality is that the numbers are increasing. We are all involved; 8M appeals to all of us equally, including to that man to whom my friend and I will send greetings from the street today, on your behalf also, with a banner so like so many others. That is why the same words are heard at the back as at the front, there as here, and that is how the collective gains strength. It seems that March 8, popularly known as 8M, is annoying; it seems that being a feminist is out of fashion - as if it were a fashion – and that there are other issues on the state’s agenda, as if there were more important issues than women’s lives and freedoms. [cases of femicides](https://english.elpais.com/elpais/2015/07/14/inenglish/1436883506_755084.html) of murdered teenagers in the State of Mexico. The color pink, for example, has also become a symbol of resistance, as has violet, so similar to the jacarandas carpeting the spring, and perhaps also alluding the feminist bloom in Latin America. M8 can be annoying for a man like the one I had to listen to and as well as the heat - too many degrees, too many words from someone like that - today can also be annoying for other people, perhaps because it gives visibility to the anger at the reality that we women live in. It left me thinking about the importance of marching today. It seems there are other issues to be dealt with in the press, as if these issues were not relevant. There is no manager, no hierarchy, no leader: they are a nuisance, look at them.

Department Press Briefing – March 8, 2023 - United States ... (Department of State)

MR PRICE: Good afternoon, everyone. Thanks for bearing with us. We wanted to make sure everyone had an opportunity to see the Secretary and the First Lady's ...

We’re closely consulting with the UN – much of this is done under the auspices of the UN – so we want to make sure that we are in close coordination with our UN partners and other international partners. MR PRICE: We are going to do – we are going to do what is most helpful to those we’re seeking to protect in Uganda and around the world. And so we’re going to do everything that we can to see to it that this initiative remains in place and ideally is expanded so that the world’s neediest in some of the countries you mentioned can continue to benefit from this. But when it comes to economic challenges, when it comes to security challenges, when it comes to political challenges, the United States is ready and able to continue to be a partner to the people of Pakistan and to our Pakistani counterparts as well. And our embassy staff, our Mission India, deserves to have a Senate-confirmed ambassador who is – again, with the consent of the Senate – a representative of not only the Secretary of State but also the President of the United States. In the aftermath of the visit to Taiwan last August by Speaker Pelosi, we saw our – we saw the PRC use that visit – which had been, of course, not unprecedented – as a pretext to attempt to undermine that status quo. There is an opportunity with Georgia to continue to be that partner, to continue to walk down that path of democracy, of responsive, responsible governance, and a Georgia that is in a position to achieve the aspirations of its citizens. We’re going to take any steps that we can as a partner to Kosovo and to Serbia and to the EU to support the acceleration in every conceivable way of the improvement of relations between Kosovo and Serbia. And we have had discussions with Israel and with our counterparts in the Palestinian Authority about ways to fulfill that imperative of ensuring the humanitarian needs of the people of Gaza are met. These are the same principles that in this case the PRC has signed on to as a member state of the UN and as a country that purports to believe in these very documents and principles – the UN Charter, the precepts of international law, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It is an effort to undermine the status quo which in Europe and the Indo-Pacific is responsible, has been responsible for the peace and security that has prevailed for much of the past seven decades. This is the same rules-based order that has been at the core of peace and security, whether it’s in Europe, whether it’s in the Indo-Pacific.
