Malik Tillman dropped out of the team entirely after being rushed back from injury for the Hampden match, so Beale didn’t use the entire midfield he used in the cup final against Kilmarnock. Martin Boyle has also been ruled out until the following season, and Rocky Bushiri isn’t expected to play again until April, at the earliest, because of a broken ankle. Kevin Nisbet (16′) and Ryan Porteous (8′) scored. When we look at their previous encounters, which date back to 10/03/2021, we find that Rangers have won four of them, with one match ending in a draw. There's very little the younger can do and the referee gives him the benefit of the doubt on this occasion. He did find himself out on the left or the right on occasion as well like he did when he set Colak up for the chance for the hat-trick in the second half. It was a set-back for Hibs who were seven unbeaten in the league but Lee Johnson could have no complaints over the result with the Light Blues far superior on the night. It looked like they had deployed, particularly Ryan Kent , and the two forwards Sakala and Colak in a different way as well. And it suited them, it allowed Ryan Kent to be far more involved in the game than what he normally is. The decision stands and it remains 1-4. However the assistant referee has his flag up. Beale stuck with the XI that started the weekend Scottish Premiership win over Kilmarnock for the trip to Easter Road and was rewarded with an impressive 4-1 victory against Hibs. The other incident was when Fashion Sakala thought he had put Rangers 1-5 up but was flagged offside. [Rangers](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/all-about/rangers-fc) were dominant throughout and could've had more on a night where fans were handed a glimpse of the future with Nicolas Raskin, Sakala and Colak particularly impressive. And Connor Goldson gave them an early opener after turning the ball into his own net. There was only a couple of VAR decisions tonight.

Rangers' third goal was a gift. Just after the hour mark, Sakala had the ball in the net from a Tavernier cross but the offside flag was up with VAR confirming the decision. The Croatia striker missed a great chance soon after and then had a shot blocked before Sakala broke on a counter but failed to get his shot away. In the 33rd minute Marshall brilliantly tipped a close-range shot from Rangers left-back Borna Barisic over the bar but the Hibs number one could not prevent Colak nipping in to convert a Sakala cross a minute later. In a barnstorming start to proceedings it was the home side who got off the mark when unmarked attacker Matthew Hoppe guided a deep free-kick back across goal with Goldson turning the ball into his own net from two yards out. Michael Beale's side pulverised Hibs at the start of the second half as tireless Fashion Sakala drove in a third in the 52nd minute before Croatia striker Colak grabbed his second six minutes later with a poacher's finish and it could have been more.

“I have to say that it is definitely just a minority. But I was disappointed that there were coins and other projectiles getting chucked down on top of me. A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Officers are aware of media reporting around objects being thrown on to the pitch at Tannadice Park, during a match on the evening of Saturday 4 March 2023. “It was disappointing but I am not going to go over the top with it and I am sure it will be dealt with.” “There was a pie, a cup of juice, a couple of coins, and unfortunately one of them landed on the top of my head. “The club will continue to investigate a number of instances that occurred during the match, and can confirm that two supporters have been charged so far.”
