PDP had won 3 out of 6 seats in J&K in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. In 2002, Mufti Sayeed became the chief minister (CM) of the state with just 16 seats in the assembly. The BJP won 25 seats and later formed an alliance with the PDP.
