Gunmen ambush Okowa's security team, kill three police officers (Premium Times)

Three police officers were, on Friday, killed when gunmen ambushed the advance security team of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State.

Mr Ikenga, a deputy superintendent of police, said the victims were officers attached to the Explosives Ordinance Department of the Delta State Police Command and were on an official assignment for the state government. The hoodlums were said to have freed one of the officers who was not in a police uniform during the attack.

According to the Commissioner, the policemen were traveling as an advance team to meet up with the governor at the scheduled Abia State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign on Friday. The Delta State Information Commissioner Charles Aniagwu confirmed the attack on Saturday in a press briefing in Asaba.
