Glen Kamara seals solid win for Rangers over 10-man St Johnstone (The Guardian)

Captain James Tavernier opened the scoring in a 2-0 win for Rangers over St Johnstone to reduce the deficit on leaders Celtic to six points.

To little surprise, Lundstram took over from Jack for the start of the second half, where Matthews again proved his worth, swatting away a Kent drive from close range after Tillman had set him up. Collum then stuck with his decision to give Jack a yellow card for a late tackle on Adam Montgomery after checking the pitchside monitor. However, Clark volleyed over the bar at the other end from a Connor McLennan cross minutes later to remind Rangers there was still plenty to do. On the day Todd Cantwell made his Rangers debut, captain James Tavernier smashed home a penalty in the 15th minute before the referee, Willie Collum, took centre stage. To some surprise he stuck by his decision, which did not amuse Davidson. Cantwell had not played since 12 November but was thrust into the starting lineup in place of Fashion Sakala, while Kamara replaced John Lundstram.

Rangers 2-0 St Johnstone: Michael Beale's side go six points ... (Daily Mail)

Rangers went six points behind Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic after a comfortable 2-0 win over St Johnstone at Ibrox.

‘Alfredo had three big moments in the first half and on another day could have had a hat-trick. Rebuilding a team that needs to be much, much better than this is the focus. Beale is right to be focused on the longer-term. “It then became very stop-start, through no fault of anyone really with the penalty, an injury, another injury and the sending-off. Collum initially dished out a yellow, but the pictures seemed to show Jack catching his opponent’s ankle. Yet, Collum studied the footage closely and opted to stick with his initial call. There was a very definite delay between the incident unfolding and Collum lifting his red card into the sky. The finish was then simple and clinical. The big screen at Ibrox then confirmed the involvement of VAR. ‘I was pleased with the amount of chances we created but not so much with our last pass or shot,’ he said. If it wasn’t for the involvement of VAR, it would have been pretty dull indeed. Todd Cantwell settled into the team with a satisfactory debut.

Rangers respond after changes to Pride Night plans (The Athletic)

Rangers players wore regular jerseys in warmups and did not tape their sticks for Pride Night, as originally planned.

However, a handful of players used [rainbow-colored tape on their sticks](https://twitter.com/Canes/status/1619127221964402688?s=20&t=aBrqwwsH4YUq83swrrA9bQ) that was pictured on the Hurricanes’ social media. This year, the Rangers said in an announcement the organization would make a charitable contribution to the Ali Forney Center as part of Pride Night and in support of the ongoing efforts to assist the LGBTQ+ community. The community captain for the game was David Gilmartin, a Delta employee who promoted Delta’s participation as a sponsor of the Heritage of Pride parade. In previous years, the Rangers auctioned signed jerseys worn in warmups and sticks used for the Pride Night celebrations, with proceeds benefitting Covenant House and Garden of Dreams to help young people in need. While plans went ahead for other aspects of the Pride celebration, players wore regular jerseys in warmups and did not tape their sticks. “In the final analysis, individual players are going to make decisions and follow their beliefs.

Five key issues as Rangers earn St Johnstone win amid VAR ... (HeraldScotland)

RANGERS were comfortable winners over St Johnstone as a James Tavernier penalty and Glen Kamara strike earned another Premiership triumph for boss…

In the end, it was a footnote on a fixture that Davidson will be pleased to put behind him. The sight of Hagi back on the Ibrox pitch was a welcome one for his manager, his team-mates and his supporters. Davidson was left with a feeling of what might have been last weekend as Rangers had to grind out a victory at McDiarmid Park to progress in the Scottish Cup. He had a hand in the second goal of the afternoon as his pass was flicked on by Morelos and Kamara finished well from inside the area. Beale urged caution when he spoke about Hagi on Friday and he won’t ask too much of the 24-year-old too soon. When he did, the roar around Ibrox said it all about how fondly is felt of by the crowd and this was a major milestone reached. Just days after signing from Norwich City and with only a couple of sessions under his belt, he pulled on his boots for the first time in more than two months to make his bow. Another VAR check was signalled and Collum did come to the side of the park this time. Collum produced a red card and Clark protested his innocence as the VAR graphic appeared in the corners of Ibrox. The comments in the days that follow will undoubtedly focus on VAR and it’s implementation. On the park, it was a pleasing afternoon for supporters as Callum Davidson’s side – reduced to ten men after Nicky Clark saw red – never looked like causing an upset. The bar still has to be raised and Beale won’t be getting carried away right now.

NY Rangers' botched Pride Night should lead to bigger conversation (The Journal News / Lohud.com)

After promoting that they would wear "pride-themed warm-up jerseys and tape," the New York Rangers disappointed fans by reneging on their promise.

Conversation breeds empathy, with athletes − who are role models to so many − holding the power to open so many doors. But they declined requests to explain the changes in their Pride Night plans, making Friday feel like a slight to LGBTQ+ fans who support the team. But clearly any organization would want to avoid the PR mess that the Flyers have been dealing with. But if they’re only doing it for phony PR reasons, then spare us the sham. Those who say that Pride Nights raise awareness and make LGBTQ+ fans feel welcome make an important and valid point. But that was overshadowed by a slew of questions from fans about what happened to the warm-up unis.

We are committed to continuing our relationships with the NY Rangers and the NHL and maintaining substantive dialogue with them about meaningful allyship with the LGBTQ+ community." NYC Pride was not made aware in advance of our participation in last night's ceremonial puck drop that Pride jerseys and rainbow tape would not be worn as advertised. Andre Thomas, co-chair of NYC Pride and Heritage of Pride, participated in the ceremonial puck drop. Coach John Tortorella said he respected the decision, saying Provorov was "being true to himself and to his religion." Instead, the team wore their "Liberty Head" jerseys in warmups.

This is in spite of advertising that the team would do so, and comes in the aftermath of the Philadelphia Flyers choosing to ice a skater who was the only one to not wear a rainbow jersey on their pride night.
