The battle took place in Cardiff on January 8 as part of the 1/32 final match of the current draw. We think the confrontation will be successful. The club will be forced to play defensively because the guests cannot attack. The Azure Birds have the lowest score in the Championship, with 21 goals scored in 27 appearances and 30 conceded, due to their lack of offensive success. When making a prediction for Leeds, it is important to keep in mind that the team has not played its best championship game in 18 rounds and that the priority task now is to keep a residence permit in the Premier League. Leeds United v Cardiff City - Live updates (WalesOnline)

The Dean Whitehead era kicks off at Elland Road tonight as Cardiff City take on Leeds United in their FA Cup third-round replay.

But the ball just rolls right by him and he cannot control it. Leeds break, Jack Simpson's tackle foruitously breaks for the hsots and Bamford is played in. Robinson loses the ball in midfield. Robinson stroked it down the middle to hand City a rather flattering scoreline in the end. He nodded home, but there was not so much as a cheer from Cardiff fans after it. Cedric Kipre stepped up to play Patrick Bamford offside, but Sang was lax and played him on by two yards. It was attack versus defence. Cardiff, by some miracle, managed to get a corner just before the half-time whistle blew. Rodrigo rounded Jak Alnwick and coolly slotted home to double the lead. And it was a steep uphill task from minute one, literally. Never has a performance summed up a club's situation than this one from Cardiff City. They were at least treated to two late Callum Robinson consolations, but that will do nothing to paper over the gaping cracks.

All eyes will be on tonight's game now though, with a place in the fourth round up for grabs. Leeds v Cardiff games are always spicy affairs and this one ...

Rodrigo is found with a lovely diagonal ball and he cuts inside Bagan before looking to pull the trigger. He shoots from the edge of the box and Alnwick has to make a great stop. However, he opts for a reverse pass – but no one is on his wavelength. Gnonto is set through the middle after Cardiff’s defence is ripped open. But the ball just rolls right by him and he cannot control it. Doesn’t catch it cleanly, though, and Meslier gathers. Cardiff just about scramble a cross away and Colwill earns a foul just on the edge of City’s box. Rodrigo has all the time in the world on the edge of the box before going around Nelson and firing from a tight angle. You can read the latest about that here. Colwill and Ojo combine well down the left and the latter hits a cross to the near post, but Harris heads wide. Ojo is played in down the left and cuts in on to his right, but his shot is low and saved. One of those nights.
