Burnley boss Vincent Kompany wants to keep that 'special' feeling bubbling at Turf Moor when Coventry City come to town.

We always want to make it feel electric, I wouldn't like to have a docile game.” "I think it [Turf Moor] already had a reputation way before I arrived at the club, but I did want to surf on that wave,” Kompany said. "On top of it you can always bring your better players into play, so when you've got a winger doing something in front of the crowd it gets them going, it lifts the stadium.

Beginning to control the game and dominate the ball. But he was delighted with the second 45 and the three points In the second half we looked ourselves, we pressed better meaning we recovered the ball in more dangerous areas and we looked after the ball better and didn't just give it away. Burnley couldn't get going and were fortunate to be level at the interval and survived a scare early in the second when Viktor Gyokeres latched onto a short Jordan Beyer pass but was crowded out. It wasn't a vintage performance from Vincent Kompany's side, far from it, but they finished the contest strongly and found a way to claim yet another three points. But Burnley hadn't lost or failed to score on home turf this term and found the breakthrough when Beyer scored eight minutes from time.

Raced onto a poor back-pass and rounded the keeper before being dispossessed at the last second at the start of the second half. Tried to be too intricate and over play it at times and too static for the goal. Forced the keeper to save from the apex of the box just before the break. Stood up to intense pressure in the second half as Burnley finally began to dominate and create chances. Had three and sometimes four Burnley players around him trying to stop him at times. Got forward to support attacks well and sent in a lovely delivery for Allen who headed wide. Tired and less effective going forward in the second half when Burnley enjoyed long spells of pressure. Made a crucial interception to deny Barnes midway through the second half as Burnley started piling on the pressure. Provided plenty of quality in the middle of the park, picking the right passes and trying his luck with a speculative 30-yard shot that went over the bar around the half hour mark. Continued to defend well after the break amid mounting pressure but lost his man for the set-piece goal. Minutes later in the ninth, Gyokeres supplied Allen for a second time but the midfielder sent his shot inches wide of the keeper’s left-hand post. Well beaten by a glancing header for the goal.

Jordan Beyer leaves it late as leaders Burnley beat Coventry (NewsChain)

Jordan Beyer's first goal for Burnley gave the Championship leaders a 1-0 victory over Coventry which extended their winning league run to seven matches.

The first was mishit straight at a defender and the second dragged wide. That sparked Burnley into life and when Gudmundsson was freed by Maatsen’s astute pass, his cross flashed across the face of goal to the normally deadly left foot of Manuel Benson but he could not keep his shot down. Gyokeres and Ben Sheaf combined near halfway to fashion the best chance of the first half, sending Kasey Palmer racing through the heart of the Clarets defence but his shot was blocked by Ian Maatsen’s desperate lunge.

Burnley vs Coventry City betting tips: Championship preview ... (101 Great Goals)

Our recommended bet for Saturday's clash at Turf Moor comes in the form of a Burnley victory over Coventry City, featuring goals from both teams.

A stretch of just one win from six in the league has culminated in Mark Robins’ side falling off the pace of the promotion playoff battle, to slip firmly back into the bottom half of the table. Save for a hard-fought League Cup exit at the hands of Manchester United, Burnley have emerged triumphant from all of their fixtures dating back to the beginning of November. Table-topping Burnley will be out to extend their advantage at the Championship summit ever further this Saturday, January 14th, as they prepare to welcome a Coventry City outfit in the midst of a concerning spell of form to Turf Moor.

Championship roundup: Beyer keeps Burnley clear and Baggies ... (The Guardian)

Jordan Beyer's first goal for Burnley gave the Championship leaders a 1-0 victory over Coventry which extended their winning league run to seven matches.

But Sykes restored the two-goal lead two minutes after the break, shooting home from another Pring cross, and the former Oxford winger added a fourth on 66 minutes, tapping into an unguarded net from Semenyo’s ball to the far post. Joel Piroe opened the scoring in the 50th minute, and while Dan Neil equalised for a spirited Sunderland, Liam Cullen and Ollie Cooper scored two goals in the space of eight minutes to ensure the points went back to south Wales. Hull striker Oscar Estupinan scored with the last kick of the game to deny Huddersfield three big points in their 1-1 draw at the MKM Stadium. But there was intent and we were up in their faces and there was great execution in the quality of the goals. The former Huddersfield manager was appointed only eight days ago but the German’s influence was clear as his side put in a display full of energy and enterprise. And there was further misery for Blackburn as Conor Washington found space in the box in stoppage time to fire a fourth in off the post. Jeff Hendrick, on loan from Newcastle, gave Reading a 2-0 half-time lead with contrasting efforts – the first struck from 30 yards and the second from almost on the goal line. Mark Sykes scored his first two goals for Bristol City in a 4-2 win over Birmingham at Ashton Gate. It took the Millers just 31 seconds to go in front after an attack down the left flank fell to Hakeem Odoffin and he lashed in his first ever league goal for the club with a stunning strike. Ollie Rathbone skipped by a challenge on the edge of the box before firing in a powerful strike which rattled the crossbar before bouncing over the line. But the hosts stepped up a gear after the break, with Coventry defending deep in the last 15 minutes. Jayden Bogle scored two as Sheffield United kept the pressure on the leaders with a 3-1 victory over Stoke.

"There are no complaints on any of the other guys who started because they've been unbelievable for us this season, but sometimes other players have got to take over. It gave us more control of the game.” He teed up Manuel Benson, who was off-target when Jay Rodriguez had allowed the substitute’s cross to run, and then he swung in the cross, having peeled off to the left hand side for a second time, that resulted in Tella’s header being repelled by Ben Wilson. "I think that helped change the game a bit. And I could have put another two or three on the pitch that I thought could help us. Their 'graft' when out of possession is proving just as valuable as their 'craft' on the ball. "In the end he's just developed into a very complete centre back; he wins his headers, he's managing his distances well, his reading and understanding of the game has improved a lot. Kompany accepted that Burnley hadn't been good enough in the first half. "Those players have always got the heart," he said. "We usually defend quite high from our goal so, even in the centre of our defence, mobility is important. "It [another clean sheet] is very good, especially because it was a tough one today. They've also had 16 individuals contributing to the assists for those goals.

Burnley player ratings vs Coventry City as substitutes Johann Berg ... (Burnley Express)

Burnley were in seventh heaven after Jordan Beyer's first goal for the club saw off Coventry City at Turf Moor.

Offered the Clarets a different dimension and used his know-how to help his team-mates see the game out. Unfortunate to see his header beaten away by Ben Wilson, who he had a confrontation with after helping win the corner for the goal. Dynamic and industrious in the second half and made up plenty of ground to thwart Viktor Gyokeres with a spectacular challenge. It was a similar story on this occasion as the 22-year-old winger struggled to get the better of his marker for a second time this season. Sliced an effort well wide in the first half and replaced by Ashley Barnes on the hour. Squandered a golden opportunity to put Burnley ahead in the second half when lifting the ball over the crossbar with a first time effort from Johann Berg Gudmundsson’s cross and was replaced by Nathan Tella shortly after. Swung in crosses for Burnley’s biggest chances of the game — which Manuel Benson and Nathan Tella failed to convert — and claimed the assist for Jordan Beyer’s winner. The centre back was rolled by the Swede once or twice, and stretched in the first half as the visitors stretched the play, but he dug deep to keep the Sky Blues out. Played a key role in helping the hosts turn the game around. Overpowered and outplayed in the first half as the Sky Blues got on top, but improved dramatically in the second half when partnered by Josh Brownhill. Played his side into trouble with an inexplicably poor pass across his own penalty area in the first half, but that was a single flaw in an otherwise encouraging display. Looked off the pace when up against Ben Sheaf and Gustavo Hamer and replaced by Johann Berg Gudmundsson for the second half.
