May 2023 be an annus mirabilis for us (Businessday.ng)

2023 is a general election year for us. So let us cast our votes for a competent, patriotic, visionary, knowledgeable, honest...

As a country, the year 2022 has gone down in our history as the year our university students stayed at home for eight months for no faults of theirs. The federal government -Asuu impasse, which caused the closure of our government-owned universities for eight months, highlights the insensitivity of our political leaders. Let us bear this in our minds as we make our electoral choices in 2023: there is a nexus between national development and good political leadership. In the year 2022, some prominent Nigerians exited our terra firma of evils. That is why the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has proposed measures, which it will execute to shore up our economy. They are fighting to achieving their theocratic and ethnic goals at the expense of human lives. Yet the APC-led government had promised that it would lift millions of impoverished Nigerians out of poverty. In the succeeding years, some people will gleefully remember it with nostalgia whereas the mere mention of it will bring tears to the eyes of other people. And the weeks give birth to month; and the months to year. For example, in the year 2022, I lost my dear mom, who was my boon companion. So we have the dry and rainy seasons in Nigeria whereas in Europe and America, they have autumn, spring, summer, and winter. And it whiplashes us with tragedies and drapes us in bountiful blessings.

Five Nigerian players who must leave in 2023 (The Punch)

The January transfer window opens today and just as 2022 saw a lot of Nigerian players makes moves across different clubs, the same is expected in 2023, ...

The Hammers made a late move for Aina in the summer but they ultimately failed in that effort as Torino refused to part with the Nigeria international but he remains linked to West Ham and Leeds. Kalu joined Watford in January from Bordeaux for โ‚ฌ3.00m, but the Nigerian has struggled so far at the club. The clubs in the Netherlands know me well from Sparta and know what they can do with me. Kalu has struggled for minutes since his move in the winter transfer window in 2022 and signs do not show that it will change anytime soon. Okoye has now admitted that heโ€™s open to a loan move to the Dutch Eredivisie; โ€œWeโ€™ll see what happens. Okoye has fallen out of favour both in club and country.
