Soludo, Arthur Eze and limits of mercantilist politics (TheNiche)

Soludo, Arthur Eze and other south east politicians with eyes on selfish politics, can go about their mercantilist agenda without dragging the south east.

The politicians from the East are the problem of the zone. This is even when the people have exhibited greater commitment in the unity of the country through their expansive interactions and investments in all the geo-political units. It should not for any reason be for his state governor, Soludo and his kinsman, Arthur Eze, to act the agent provocateur against his candidacy. Rather, Soludo, Arthur Eze and some other politicians from the area are further retreating in their cocoons in sheer timorous mode, looking up to Atiku Abubakar to hand over power to them by the time he may have served out his two terms in 2031. A house slave worked, and often lived, in the house of the slave-owner. By fact and history, the region has been grossly marginalised in all aspects of the national life, particularly political leadership. Even at that, Nigerians of equity and fair mindedness are also agreed that it is time to give his south east political zone the chance to produce the next president. Earlier, the North had produced Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and Alhaji Shehu Shagari in the first and second republics, respectively. Celebrated Essayist and author, Chinweizu, describes them as “Comprador Bourgeoisie”, in his work, ‘The West and The Rest of Us’. In the history of slavery in America, there were the house slaves and plantation slaves. In the French and Belgian colonies, they found comfort in a special class referred to as the Évolué – a French label to describe a native African or Asian who had “evolved” by becoming Europeanised through education or assimilation and had accepted European values and patterns of behavior. They were often employed in white-collar jobs (although rarely higher than clerks), and lived primarily in urban areas of the colony.

Arthur Eze not happy with the new order Peter Obi represents – Group (Opinion Nigeria)

A group, Diasporans for Good Governance (DGG), has chided oil mogul, Prince Arthur Eze over comments credited to him asking Presidential Candidate of the ...

The group reminds Nigerians everywhere of their obligation to defy party boundaries and vote Labour Party’s Peter Obi if they desire to rescue themselves from the shackles that have tied them down. “Arthur Eze’s continued support for the PDP and APC only shows that he is a part of the political cabal that has brought unprecendented insecurity, economic hardship, oil theft, corruption, unemployment, and debt crises. Camillus Konkwo said that the billionaire businessman had no moral grounds or political relevance to ask Obi to withdraw from the race.

General Elections 2023: The Arthur Eze's Challenge - P.M.EXPRESS (P.M.EXPRESS)

Now that this has come to declaring stand as it is in politics, it might happen that if Tinubu and APC activate all structures in the Southeast, the zone might harvest more than Tinubu’s fair share of votes in February 25, next year. Tinubu is also running on the platform of a ruling political party. Is it justified for one to hold on to his free choice and then question the choice of others? It is also expected that his supporters in Anambra State, Obi’s home state and the Southeast in general, will also make their stand clear. It is bizarre to say the least, and only borderline tyranny of the masses. What Prince Eze has done is to throw the debate open, for people of means and other stakeholders, to declare their own stand and it is only about to get interesting.
