Kyogo Furuhashi was on target as Celtic restored their nine-point lead in the cinch Premiership with a 2-1 home win against Livingston.

Former Rangers midfielder Stephen Kelly came close to an equaliser with a well-struck volley from 20 yards following a long throw. Alexandro Bernabei came on and Greg Taylor switched to right-back. Furuhashi saw two efforts comfortably saved before the Japanese striker doubled the lead.

I knew that was of their strongest points and we worked on it in the middle of the week. We had a 10-15 minute period after the second period, then Ange and I make a few changes and we can't get back in the game. "I was really proud of the boys, they stuck to the game plan. People talk about parking the bus but we were always in it. In the low block, you have to have discipline and the boys had that. I'm not going to keep banging on about VAR and the intrusions in the game. "Hopefully Ralston is not too bad, he was in the wars to be fair. We had a wee opportunity in the game and they were making bad mistakes so we could get higher up the park. "We need to be better in the box, they were quality opportunities. There were a couple of times he could have got on the end of things. "The performance wasn't our best to be fair," he said. Livingston were looking to hang on, Celtic cut them open for a second as the clock ticked into first-half stoppage time.

Furuhashi on target as Celtic go nine points clear (BeSoccer EN)

Kyogo Furuhashi scored the winner as Celtic defeated Livingston 2-1 on Wednesday to restore their nine-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

[The Japan striker](https://www.besoccer.com/player/k-furuhashi-365230) was on target at the end of the first half after the champions had taken the lead at Parkhead through an own goal from Ayo Obileye. [Celtic](https://www.besoccer.com/team/celtic-fc) dominated the first half but were less fluent after the interval, although Liel Abada, who set up both their goals, had a goal disallowed after a lengthy VAR review. Both Abada and Sead Haksabanovic then missed half-chances, but there were no late scares for Celtic as they extended their lead over arch-rivals Rangers at the top of the table.

Livingston looking to hold, Celtic opened them up by a second as the clock ticked off first half stoppage time. Celtic went for more as Abada slid past Kyogo, but Konovalov ran off his line to deny it from close range. We’re constantly working on that, so the players know they need to be in that area.” “The acting wasn’t the best to be fair,” he said.

Joe Hart staying focused at Celtic (The Irish News)

Celtic's Joe Hart insists there is no chance he will lose focus during one-sided games as being a goalkeeper is a “way of life”.

“I was just trying to see it because there were a lot of bodies in the box,” he said. “We would have liked to have scored a few more but football is not set up for us to necessarily smash people all the time. “I obviously want to be there for those moments and try and save them, but Livi stayed dogged and stayed in the game and took their chance when it came.

Celtic On This Day – 23rd December – David Potter's Diary (thecelticstar.com)

Celtic Historian David Potter each morning on The Celtic Star looks back at key Celtic events and matches on this day starting on 23rd December 1916.

— Li'l Ze (@LilZe_7) It was nice to see Joe McBride back again, and hopefully over his injury problems. The new song “Sure, it’s a grand old team to play for” is clearly a great hit with the fans. It is clear however that some of the Celtic players are not happy and don’t get along with Manager Willie Maley. SATURDAY 23 DECEMBER 1916 – Celtic haven’t been beaten for over a year now, and weren’t really in a lot of trouble today as they went to Firhill and won 2-0 with goals from Johnny Browning and Jimmy “Sniper” McColl. David’s latest bestseller The Celtic Rising ~ 1965: The Year Jock Stein Changed Everything SOLD OUT on Celtic Star Books but the good news is that it is now back in stock!

Celtic out on their own in runaway title charge (HeraldScotland)

WHAT'S your favourite Christmas movie, then? All-time classic It's A Wonderful Life? The Muppet Christmas Carol? Elf? Die Hard? (Does that…

It should be noted that one of Culkin’s unsung qualities was his unique ability to appeal to the everyman through the prism of a character whose wealth, it appears, knows no bounds. Not only did Livingston fail to come close against Celtic on Wednesday night (the hosts had 23 shots to Livi’s three, 10 on target to two from the visitors, Celtic had 78 per cent of possession and completed 710 passes to their opponents’ 209), but any talk of a genuine title race this season is as outlandish as genuinely fearing a kid might be caught and killed by his assailants in a Christmas family movie. Just like the fun of Home Alone is in its game of cat and mouse, the baddies may get close to the hero, but they’ll never truly lay a glove on him. The same could probably be said of young Kev and the Sticky Bandits in Home Alone. The whole premise of the But, in the first half in particular, his side couldn’t live with the restless pressing of the Parkhead team.
