[Three Lions](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/team/1196702/england/) trio all missed penalties in the [Euro 2020 final](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/15565520/england-1-italy-1-penalties-euro-heartbreak/) last summer and were bombarded with a barrage of racist abuse from trolls. [Coman](https://www.thesun.co.uk/who/kingsley-coman/) and [Tchouameni](https://www.thesun.co.uk/who/aurelien-tchouameni/) both missed from the spot and handed Argentina's Gonzalo Montiel the chance to win the tournament. The string of comments prompted Tchouameni and Kolo-Muani to briefly disable their accounts. The disgusting trolls left a string of monkey and banana emojis on the trio's accounts and a number of derogatory comments.

France World Cup final stars forced to shut down social media accounts after string of racist comments.

[France](https://www.90min.com/world-cup/france) fought back from 2-0 down late in the second half to force extra time. The latter scored in the [World Cup](https://www.90min.com/world-cup) semi-final too, while Tchouameni was on the scoresheet against England in the quarter-final. Coman and Tchouameni both missed in the penalty shootout, and Kolo-Muani missed a glorious chance to win it at the end of extra time while the score was still locked at 3-3.

Following France's Qatar 2022 World Cup final defeat, Aurélien Tchouméni, Kingsley Coman and Randal Kolo Muani suffered disgusting racial abuse online.

All three received abusive messages containing banana and monkey emojis in the aftermath of the match. Kolo Muani was one of two France players to score in the shootout, alongside Kylian Mbappé. Eintracht Frankfurt attacker Kolo Muani started the match on the bench but was introduced just before half-time and played a key role in helping France get back into things after a poor start.
