Fans online reacted to the decision, believing Silva left his leg out purposely to initiate contact. However, the decision sparked controversy among United fans as it was Pawson who didn't award Jadon Sancho a penalty a week ago in their 0-0 draw Newcastle for a similar challenge. Man City 3-1 Brighton: Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne on ... (Sky Sports)

Report and free match highlights as Erling Haaland adds two more to his Premier League goal tally; Man City awarded a contentious penalty in the first half; ...

"I think in the first half, we could play with more energy, with more confidence, with more personality. I believe if we play the same way, same style, we will win a lot of games." "In the first half, Trossard could have played better because I think he's a very good player and I expect always more from him. A brilliant afternoon for Man City captain De Bruyne - and all with a black eye picked up in training. With the ball, they are really good but in the first half, they played with a high press and intensity and we were playing on their terms. I have to analyse only my work and that is to understand if the players play well or not. We took only two points and this is sad for us, but we have to work, to improve. "We played one of the most important team in the Premier League, but the lessons are the same. We suffered, but the quality from Kevin made the difference. VAR did check the goal for a foul, but Haaland was simply too strong for the Brighton defender. Silva fizzed the ball along the top of the area for the midfielder, who was offered far too much space to fire home a sumptuous effort. He was caught by Joel Veltman down the left of the area, sending the winger rolling off the field, clutching his ankle.

Erling Haaland returned Manchester City to winning ways in a 3-1 victory over Brighton on Saturday.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s return from injury is a huge boost for Frank Lampard’s men and the England international showed quick feet to fire home his first goal of the season early on. But another piece of City brilliance, this time from Kevin De Bruyne, killed the game off as the Belgian curled in from outside the box. Normal service was resumed at the Etihad as City moved to within a point of the top with Haaland taking his tally for the season to 22.

Pep Guardiola said his English isn't good enough to keep coming up with superlatives to describe Erling Haaland. Haaland scored another two goals in the 3-1 ...

"I'm not happy but I don't want to speak too much about the referee, the decision or VAR. I believe if we continue to play at this level we will win many games." "He's not playing at his top level yet," the Man City boss said. It was a type of game we are not used to because we don't have any men free. De Bruyne: City set up to go again and again (Manchester City FC)

Kevin De Bruyne has pointed to Manchester City's relentless desire for success following our 3-1 Premier League triumph against Brighton.

“It depends on the games and now we play with a real out-and-out striker. “It is a nice feeling to win, and we try to achieve that every year. We are always fighting to go again, and it is a squad with great humility. He makes different movements, so I think you have to adapt a little bit to the way he wants to play also, but I think it is going quite well. “It is maybe not the same as Erling, but if you see Gabriel Jesus at Arsenal, he is a real number nine. “Even if we won last year, we don’t take it for granted and we want to go again.
