Hearts vs Celtic - LIVE updates (Scottish Daily Record)

Edinburgh has never been a city short on performance art and expect plenty of drama to coincide with the new technology.

It’s the first time I’ve used it but I think it will be a positive for the game. He’s very ambitious, but, at the same time, he has been very good at focusing on making himself a strong member of this club first. The 24-year-old is in the thinking of national-coach Hajime Moriyasu as he plans his final squad for Qatar. Since then you’ve seen how much VAR has helped football come along, it’s only a positive for the Scottish game. There might be a little bit of a delay after goals are scored, or actual VAR situations. I managed to see a bit of that game again this, and I was delighted to see him get the goals. "Again, I don't think that is the message I am preaching. The Premiership champions don't take a backwards step and are aiming for all three points in the capital ahead of their [Champions League](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/all-about/champions-league) clash with Shakhtar. I think they will be there to watch the football. I know others are really excited about it, good luck to them, but I doubt anyone is buying a ticket to see what VAR does this weekend. "Last night at Easter Road heralded the start of the new era and it might be a painful experience to begin with because it’s been in place with professional officials at the helm for over a year in the English Premier League and it’s still causing uproar. I’m all for a system that makes sure there are no horrific mistakes, or no massive injustices.

Referee Nick Walsh blew for a foul before the ball reached Ralston and yet the decision was subject to review. Shankland’s shot was saved by Hart and his fluffed rebound turned in by Ginnelly. You suspect the moment was catnip to his Hearts counterpart Robbie Neilson, who tends to enjoy a spot of official-baiting. The full-back’s momentum was too much for Alex Cochrane, the cross too heavy for Orestis Kiomourtzoglou to adequately block. Hearts may have folded after a Rangers opener a few weeks earlier but this was a more robust performance. Hearts v Celtic has always been a highly-charged fixture.

This win was all the sweeter, as they blew their VAR load early, flagging up all the warnings, revealing the true nature of refereeing in the accursed SPFL and vindicating – actually publicly, globally – all we’ve maintained for decades: SON OF JACKIE – 7/10 – Spent much of the game wrestling with the genetically engineered backline and conducting a staring contest with Little Nicky. We struggled in the rain, and amid the ugliness, unable to get them under the cosh. Quite incredible preVARication from a pair of shysters inculcated with brazen deceit by a culchur that condones defrauding a certain club to the benefit of another institution built on bigotry and supremacism.
