Boubakary Soumare must improve his off-the-ball game if he is to keep his place in the midfield “jungle” for this weekend's fixture against Crystal Palace.
Wout Faes and James Justin will form the rest of the defence, which is again expected to sit in front of Danny Ward. Patson Daka appears to have taken over from Jamie Vardy as City’s number one striker and looks likely to keep his place, especially after a third goal in four appearances at the Vitality Stadium. That’s where the battle takes place and that’s where you have to win it. Then you bring that desire and mentality and intensity, and you hope that will be enough to get you your points.” The manager may turn to Mendy for the first time in the Premier League this term if he feels he can provide his defence with greater protection. There is a concern over Jonny Evans and a tight calf, but he has not been definitively ruled out. If you can control that zone, it gives you a great chance to win a football game. It will be a tight game between two teams that will want to play football and with similar structures. That’s the analysis that we’ve tried to help his game with. Beyond that, there are unlikely to be many, if any changes, to the City line-up, despite defeat at Bournemouth. “With Bouba, it’s not with the ball,” the manager said at his press conference on Thursday. I don't think much has changed - the Foxes remain vulnerable at the back and you have to think Crystal Palace, and Wilfried Zaha, will capitalise on that. Leicester City’s centre-backs are selected on their performance in training and compatibility as a pairing, manager Brendan Rodgers has said as he continues to overlook Caglar Soyuncu. Will it be Evans or Amartey at the back? “It’s understanding the state of the game. There’s a massive space to go into and then you can be attacking in the final third. You don’t have to be nice all the time. Will it be Soumare or Mendy in midfield? With no derby-day bragging rights to get the crowd going, and against a side that has impressed in spells under Patrick Vieira, this afternoon's match is set to be tougher. “Eventually it can [get into the players’ heads]. In the last game against Bournemouth, we gave the ball away so much. Just under a fortnight ago, they were up to the task as they thrashed Nottingham Forest, but a concerning defeat at Bournemouth means the pressure is back as they take on Palace this lunchtime (12.30pm kick-off). You educate the players on these things. Instead, we go back, and we lose the ball, which happens.
Leicester City make one change to the starting XI selected for the 2-1 defeat at Bournemouth. Daniel Amartey replaces Jonny Evans in the centre of defence.
The good news for the Foxes: they’ve won this particular fixture in each of the last three seasons. Leicester by contrast came a cropper last weekend from a winning position at Bournemouth; have lost five of their last six, shipping five against Brighton and six at Spurs; and have a tricky run before the World Cup break. We don’t want to look at the table, we have to look at the players Leicester have. Daniel Amartey replaces Jonny Evans in the centre of defence. The teams are out. The crowd is so important for us.

Patrick Vieira's position at Palace is more secure but he will be keen to add more points to their tally of nine from eight games, which have not reflected the quality of their performances. But there is still much for the Leicester defence to fear from Vieira's fieldings in attack. They know the level of work we do." That's important to be able to do. “When I heard about Leicester, straight away I said to my agent: ‘Make it happen.’ It was a no-brainer. We've played well in a lot of games but not been able to see it through.

Boubakary Soumare retains his spot in midfield, keeping out Papy Mendy, who has now returned to fitness and takes a place among the substitutes, with Sammy Braybrooke dropping out. James Justin completes the back four, with Danny Ward still in goal. Brendan Rodgers had other options at centre-half, including Caglar Soyuncu and Jannik Vestergaard, but has opted for Amartey, whose performances earlier in the season were criticised by supporters.
Leicester City host Crystal Palace on Saturday at the King Power Stadium as both teams aim to kick on after slow starts to the season.
Eze and Olise also provide great creativity from more central roles but Olise drops out of the lineup today as Schlupp slots forward to midfield. Vieira has plenty of attacking options on the bench but the trio of Edouard, Jordan Ayew and Zaha worked well last week and start again. Patson Daka is also chipping in with goals (four from four appearances) and this could be when he finally replaces Jamie Vardy in the starting lineup. Jamie Vardy once again starts on the bench as Patson Daka has the starting spot up top. As for Palace, they are an extremely resolute side under Patrick Vieira and they will now look to kick on after a very tough run of fixtures to start the season as they play Wolves, Everton and Southampton after this trip to Leicester. Leicester have conceded an incredible 24 goals (the most in the Premier League) so Maddison and Co.

- Leicester have won each of their last three Premier League home games against Crystal Palace, more than they had in their first seven against them in the competition beforehand (W2 D1 L4). - Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha has both scored (7) and been directly involved in (9) more Premier League goals against Leicester than he has any other opponent. However, all eight of his Premier League goals have come in London (7 at Selhurst Park, 1 at the Emirates). - Since the start of last season, no side has dropped more points from winning positions in the Premier League than Leicester (35, including 14 this season). It’s also just one fewer than the most defeats by a team scoring first in the whole of last season (Aston Villa and Southampton both 5). Kelechi Iheanacho: In his few minutes on the pitch, he carried the ball well and got into dangerous positions, but his shots were a bit central. In his best moment, he made a incisive forward run off the ball, something you don't get from Tielemans, but he just couldn't get the pass around the defender to set up Vardy. Harvey Barnes: He was City’s biggest threat for much of the game. Patson Daka: He’s getting a lot more involved and looks far more comfortable as the lone striker than he did last season, which is a huge plus. He made a few poor decisions at the top end of the pitch too, shooting when he should have looked for the pass. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall: He moved into nice areas, and when he had Barnes to work with, the football on the left side was effective and penetrative. Daring to try the difficult passes should be commended as they get City into dangerous areas when they come off, but he was a little too ambitious. Just before he was substituted, he did begin to improve, battling harder to make tackles when tracking back, and enjoying one bulldozing run forward. He made a couple of surging runs forward too, and delivered some decent crosses to the back post, albeit his negative passing frustrating Rodgers and fans at times. He was excellent in one-on-one situations, making well-timed tackles, while he thundered into challenges around the pitch too to get the fans going. There were moments where he gave the ball away cheaply, played lazy back-passes and looked weak in his battle with Edouard, affording him way too much time and space. His defence was solid enough that he had little to do with his hands, but he did make one fine stop low down to deny Edouard.
