England and Germany played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at Wembley in the UEFA Nations League.
Kane was again on the scoresheet as he added to Raheem Sterling's opener with a second goal in 11 second-half minutes. 5 mins from kickoff: The players are in the tunnel. "It is great to see all the fans here. Foden and Raheem Sterling get in the box but the Tottenham striker's cross evades everyone. 25th min: Germany have had 65% possession so far but then England come so close to opening the scoring! But unlike his goal against Leicester this season this one doesn't fly in and barely troubles the keeper. Plenty of encouragement for Southgate to take into the World Cup with the open play goal drought ended. 51st min: Maguire gives the ball away sloppily and the Manchester United defender then trips Jamal Musiala in the box when one on one. Yet, on squad selections this year you feel Alexander-Arnold is at the bottom of his right-back pecking order and for a cautious Southgate, defensive stability is his priority, of which Alexander-Arnold isn't an option. The two combined brilliantly to draw the home side level and after Sterling missed a couple of chances in the first half, his Chelsea team-mate showed him just how it's done by rattling home his powerful strike at the first opportunity. On evidence of the 1-0 defeat to Italy last week, you'd struggle to see England getting out the group stage but there's plenty of positives to take from the second half, at least, against Germany tonight. The turnaround looked complete when Nico Schlotterbeck crunched Bellingham in the box, and again after VAR intervened, a penalty was awarded.
Chelsea players starred in a six-goal second-half thriller at Wembley as England drew 3-3 against Germany in their Nations League encounter.
It was a goal to flatten Southgate and England fans despite the positives but Potter will have taken delight in seeing the German attacker on his toes in the box to mop up Nick Pope's spillage. Being so sharp at Wembley is just as impressive as curling in a 'worldie' given space and time, both will have impressed Potter just as much. With Potter's first league game against Crystal Palace fast approaching and all the players on show, plus Ben Chilwell who will need careful management after another spell of being called up by his country but not used in London, there is an immediate boost. Potter then had some notes to take and the crossword would have been put back on hold. The forward found space and time on the edge of the box and curled his shot past Nick Pope and into the top corner. If Potter can nature the talent into consistency, then Chelsea have a winner. On comes Mason Mount and maybe Potter lifts his head from a crossword to glance over the game a bit more. England had been okay to a point but Potter wouldn't have jumped from his seat. [Graham Potter was a fan favourite to be the future national team boss](https://www.football.london/chelsea-fc/transfer-news/chelsea-news-transfers-live-jude-25113342). So England and Germany drew but there was a winner on the night. More importantly, it coincided with a return to form for two of his key players. Southgate was under pressure to get a result, or at least a positive performance against Germany at Wembley, and did just that.
