Sony's Dracula Movie 'The Invitation' Bites onto Blu-ray with Brand ... (Bloody Disgusting)

Released into theaters last month, Sony's The Invitation has thus far scared up $25.8 million worldwide, and we've learned that it's next coming to.

“After the death of her mother and having no other known relatives, Evie (Nathalie Emmanuel) takes a DNA test…and discovers a long-lost cousin she never knew she had. There’s a little more swearing, and the sex scene is a good chunk longer. There’s a little bit more blood. So there’s still that keeping of mystery, but I will say there’s a bit more gore. There’s more prosthetics in that one,” Thompson told Bloody Disgusting’s Meagan Navarro as part of Thompson continued, “Yeah, a little bit more blood, a little bit more of that, but I’m someone who thinks you lose the tension as soon as you reveal your monster.

THE INVITATION (2022) 17 reviews plus unrated Blu-ray news ... (MOVIES and MANIA)

The Invitation is a 2022 horror film about a young American woman who is courted by an English aristocrat but realises a conspiracy is afoot.

In the US, The Invitation will be released theatrically by Screen Gems/Sony Pictures on August 26, 2022. But I hope people are open-minded when they come in because we’ve put a modern twist on those characters.” There are new stories we want to see and want to know about, and we use that as a jumping-off point. That’s not to say there isn’t a well-staged scene or two in The Invitation, but when the best scene in a vampire romance is a sequence where the lead gets a clumsy manicure, it suggests deficits in the horror department.” 2 stars, “The Invitation struggles to ascertain what type of horror movie it wants to be. The pivot from the Get Out setup to the Ready of Not revenge tour is much too long in coming, with a payoff that just isn’t worth the wait.” 2 out of 5, The manor house used is beautiful and would have secrets within its history. “It’s not that The Invitation spends far too much time on this romantic angle that drains it of any life force, but rather how boring and suspense-free it’s executed. After the death of her mother and having no other known relatives, Evie (Nathalie Emmanuel) takes a DNA test… The movie has issues about race and class that are dangled in front of viewers but never fully developed.” “Thompson creates some gothic flourishes for The Invitation, and she focuses on set and costume design more than performances, trying to generate a visual experience. “It’s a well-crafted gothic romance light on scares that could sufficiently introduce the genre to unfamiliar audiences.

The Invitation's Worst Dracula Nod Makes No Sense (Screen Rant)

The Invitation features a lot of references to Bram Stoker's Dracula, but the movie's most blatant nod to the vampire novel is a strange one.

Whether they are intended to be villainous versions of the original Jonathan and Mina, new characters with the same names or something else entirely is never made clear, and ultimately the last Dracula name-drop in The Invitation ends up more confusing than clever. [Bram Stoker novel Dracula](https://screenrant.com/dracula-1992-movie-differences-bram-stoker-novel/), Mina Harker is the heroine who, alongside Jonathan Harker (and Van Helsing, and a few others), eventually defeats the title character. However, long before The Invitation’s big reveal, the preceding scenes are filled with nods to the novel Dracula, some of which are subtle and some of which are surprisingly blatant.
