View: Lampard has perfect chance to turn Everton draws to wins (Goodison News)

Everton have had a strange start to their Premier League campaign this year, but they could be set to get a big chance to make it a really good one.

But the losses of Mason Holgate, Yerry Mina and Ben Godfrey to injury heaped lots of pressure on them. The postponements are undoubtedly not ideal considering the effect they’ll have on the season later down the line, but for now they could prove to be a little blessing in disguise for Lampard and the Toffees to turn a decent start into a really good one. However on top of that, there is a great chance to work on the little issues that Lampard has been trying to fix to get the team scoring more goals and being stronger at the back to turn those draws into wins.

One win in 15 Premier League games was a bad one - no need to dwell on that - as was the fact that only one outfield player started the last two Merseyside ...

His experience, tenacity and tidiness in possession mean that he can be an effective piece in the right kind of framework, especially if his workload is managed. My personal opinion is that he is one of the best defensive midfielders in the world. Fitness has clearly been an issue, with the midfielder suffering with a number of niggles in recent months. Allan, after all, has never been a natural number six, albeit that is where he has almost exclusively played during his time on Merseyside. He is intelligent tactically and he has got a lot of energy. "Allan is fit, he is in the squad," said Lampard on August 19. He is a player whose energy can make the others better. In the latter encounter, the Everton boss actually thought the best course of action was no substitutes at all. He is not just a player for himself. He missed games in pre-season and, obviously, he's missed that part so we're trying to get him match-fit but he's a really good pro and he's fit, ready to go." Following that match at Anfield, the former Napoli man has not started a Premier League game and his two substitute appearances total just 27 minutes. That was the number of passes Everton midfielder

Football Insider has been told by Gabby Agbonlahor his verdict on an anti-Everton bias after a major reveal from Frank Lampard.

Maupay was brought in and he has to start finishing those chances. He had so much time, he’s just got to slot it low and he scores. There’s no consistency with how the lines look.
