[Burnley ](https://www.lancs.live/all-about/burnley-fc)made multiple offers but the Welsh club stood firm in their valuation of the frontman, which stood around £10million. The forward adds to the plentiful options in that area of the pitch for Vincent Kompany and creates further competition for places. Dervisoglu has mainly played through the middle coming through the ranks at Sparta Rotterdam before earning his move to the Bees. [Here's ](https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/transfer-news/michael-obafemi-burnley-swansea-city-24910471)why Burnley opted not to pursue a deal Burnley have lost just once this season - away at Watford - and will hope to maintain their momentum in the Midlands. After a victory in the oppening round over [Huddersfield](https://www.htafc.com/), they have failed to produce a positive result in four consecutive games (three draws and a defeat to [Watford](https://www.watfordfc.com/)). “In the Championship you have to try and find a way of breaking solid teams down. Burnley, in turn, use a lot of manpower up front when attacking, possessing the ball for two-thirds of the game. They are confident on the ball with a possession 68.1% of the time on average (1st in the league). That was true in the last game, but we need to do it at West Brom too.” Burnley are looking to get a straight shot at the Premiership. Again, Albion have had to take a point after falling behind, but this one will taste a helluva lot sweeter than those which have been earned before.
Saw a little more of the ball in the second half and was shifted wide Found Townsend at the back post, but he was caught upfield in the second as Burnley hit Albion on the break. An Albion corner wasn't dealt with, and the skipper might've done better as he got to the loose ball first but turned the shot wide of the post. Fizzed a shot onto the post when making another darting run and being found by Diangana. Raced away down the right, always making runs to be found by Swift and Gardner-Hickman. Lost him in the build up to the Burnley opener and almost sold TGH short with a wayward pass before recovering. Crossing from the left was pretty aimless when looking to target lone forward Grant. Had two openings on goal, although one was certainly more awkward than the other. Albion's dominance on the game waned in the second half. The Baggies might've been put to bed early had an awful back pass from Conor Townsend been punished. Any frustration currently doesn't lie with the existing players, certainly, and they continued to get a strong home backing. Rodriguez, as he did so many times for Albion, did the rest from the spot.

I think a lot of that was due to the players being tired and for the first time I could see they were really tired out there. It is the first time we looked a little bit more leggy and I am not saying we didn't put in the effort because we always do, and the lads were going as hard as they could to make it difficult to cross the balls and that gave us a platform but in the end we didn't take care of the ball. And therefore we played against a team that on the day could have got the three points and a point is good for us. There is a good mix between experience for now and talent and as well players who are going to be there for the future. In the end, it was 1-0 until the 98th minute and just playing 100 minutes was a little bit too much for us. I always assume everything is done in good faith, the keeper went down twice and I am not going to sit here having a moan about things. There are a couple of players out there who had a tough time and Ian was one of them and it doesn't need to be more than that. For now I am happy to work with the group of guys I have, they give me everything and that is the base. For me now, we have the group we have and we are looking forward to working with those. Yet this Clarets side have improvement aplenty in them with a host of new signings to provide further competition and quality to the starting XI. The visitors continued to dig in defensively, with Aro Muric forced off for the second game in succession. The Clarets were second best throughout at The Hawthorns as a third game in six days seemed to catch up with them.
