Man Utd team news 'leaked' for Leicester clash with Cristiano ... (Daily Express)

MANCHESTER UNITED take on Leicester in the Premier League on Thursday night.

And the ace bagged 18 goals in his maiden campaign back at Old Trafford. And he appears to now be planning for life without Ronaldo, with the veteran having just one more year remaining on his current United contract. And he was unable to find the back of the net or provide any assists in that time. Ronaldo has only started one match this campaign, with his apparent desire to leave and lack of match fitness seemingly getting in the way of a regular place in Erik ten Hag’s line-up. The 37-year-old then returned to pre-season training late and missed his side’s summer tour as he pushed for a move away amid links with the likes of Chelsea, Napoli, Sporting Lisbon, Marseille and AC Milan. The Red Devils signed Ronaldo for a second time last August as he returned to the Premier League following nine years with Real Madrid and three years with Juventus.

Maddison's curling 25-yard free-kick was tipped away by De Gea to prevent it from nestling in the top corner. Despite a relatively even opening 10 minutes, it was United who quickly put our stamp on the game. Our forward line continued to pick up great positions between the lines and Rashford played in Sancho once again but his effort was well blocked by James Justin, while Harvey Barnes whipped a shot just over the bar. A couple of touches between Dalot, Fernandes and Rashford were all that was required for Sancho to find himself in space and slot home with complete composure, for his second goal of the season. It was a confident and self-assured first-half from the Reds, but Leicester quickly grew into the game, rousing their home fans. David De Gea saved well from James Maddison's free-kick after the break, but United had the better opportunities to double our lead and were comfortable in closing out the win, which takes us up to fifth in the top-flight table.

Instead, it is three wins in a row and three games in which his players have been committed to the cause. I have to do the very best with the resources I have. That will please Ten Hag - the fact that it is easy to envisage Antony and Casemiro, brought on here, being slotted into this side now. Scott McTominay provided that in midfield, a dominant presence for the 45 minutes, and ahead of him there are promising signs too. Immediately, he was up and slapping the chest of the Manchester United centre-backs. On whether new signing Antony will be involved this weekend, Ten Hag said: "We have to see [if he'll be in the squad]. "I think it's clear to see [that the squad is weaker than last year]. Players want to compete; this group has shown they can compete but we needed help and unfortunately we haven't been able to get that. "Maybe it's too quick to say [we have turned a corner]," he said. Man Utd might've made greatest transfer mistake yet with Erling ... (Daily Express)

ERLING HAALAND has lit up the Premier League since joining Manchester City this summer.

The now 22-year-old went on to bag an incredible 86 goals and 23 assists in 89 games for Dortmund as he developed into one of the best strikers in the world. Haaland has started his City career in emphatic fashion and notched his second consecutive hat-trick on Wednesday night as the Citizens put Nottingham Forest to the sword. Haaland’s representatives wanted to secure a share from future sales of the player as part of a transfer deal. By the time Haaland had played his last game for the Austrian club, he had accumulated a staggering 29 goals in 27 appearances. And their failure to get their hands on the blockbuster Norway striker could be their greatest transfer mistake ever. Haaland came through the ranks at Bryne in his homeland before joining Molde in 2017.

Hear from the boss as he chats about team news, the transfer window and the trip to Old Trafford.

That is the only reason why we are here, and we have to continue to do that. We have obviously tried to get everything done that we can, and sometimes you have to get the right balance. Yesterday it was a real possibility and we tried, but then we kept the decision to say that it has to be the right player for the team and for the club. I think we have learned a lot from that and there's still the players that we have to get out. We have gone through things like that when we hadn’t won at Stamford Bridge for 20 or something years, but you need to believe that you will do that. We have to go into the market and the other teams and coaches are going to tell you how good you are, what your value is and what you’ve done. The attitude of the player is there and he’s really disappointed to be out again as you can imagine, and the team needs him when he’s back. He called me really late last night and it was more of a conversation that we used to have when we were teammates and really good friends. There is nothing else we can do, we have an academy as well that we have to use, and we’ll try to utilise the players in the best possible way. Then we had to react in the market and we tried, but at the end of the day we have to bring in the player that we feel is right for the team and for the club and we didn’t manage to do that. I think that there have been moments when the history and the media were talking about it, and the special rivalry between certain players built a certain momentum into it. No, we had a lot of things still to do in the squad, you see the amount of departures, compared to the number we have recruited.
