But there are no more men and women of goodwill who can say no to impunity because we have been cowed by the policies of this nepotistic government and this is shameful. The only party that guarantees that outside the military is the PDP. Nigeria is not a completely failed nation like Somalia yet, but if you are taking stock of failing nations, Nigeria should be at the top of the list. It is one thing to be an activist on social media, and it is another thing to be part of the political process. It is clear that the level of insecurity has degenerated in this country. We all know the truth; when you talk about the failures of the government of Muhammadu Buhari, who is the leader of the party; who brought him to power? So are you now saying those that cannot make ‘garri’ and ‘Eko’ cannot survive in Nigeria the way Tinubu is postulating? The other day, terrorists were saying if we offend them further, they will capture the president and Kaduna State Governor; is that not ridiculous? Wike is a stakeholder in the party, and Atiku Abubakar is the presidential standard-bearer of the party and is contesting in the 36 states, including Rivers, in the elections. Therefore, I enjoin all Nigerian youths to get active and participate more in the political process. Don’t forget, it was only under the PDP that we had Dimeji Bankole as House of Representatives Speaker and also Patricia Etteh, as part of its gender-friendly nature, in the same House of Representatives. That is why he is called the unifier.

Road to 2023: Atiku/Wike meeting: Ayu still walking tightrope (Daily Sun)

How long can former Senate President, Iyorchia Ayu, survive as the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP)?

Ayu and Ortom are said to have fallen out during the nomination of candidates for the 2023 polls in Benue. Furthermore, he posited that it is wrong for anyone to blame Ayu for the inability of Wike to clinch the PDP vice presidential candidate’s slot for the 2023 polls. According to the party official, contrary to speculations, there is no problem between Ortom and the PDP chairman. Nevertheless, the noose is seemingly tightening on Ayu, in the aftermath of last week’s parley between Atiku and Wike in London. However, it is yet unclear whether or not that peace mission has given any respite to the PDP leader. Baraje noted that usually, it is after the party had won the presidential election that the chairmanship is re-zoned to achieve North/South balance. According to him, “Atiku Abubakar is the candidate of the party. Tambuwal had withdrawn from the PDP presidential contest at the 11th hour and directed his supporters to vote for Atiku, who eventually clinched the ticket. Wike’s supporters after a meeting in Abuja recently, insisted that the PDP chairman must be replaced by a southerner, as condition for reconciliation in the party. Ayu the day after the PDP convention, had visited the Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal, in his Abuja residence, where he was seen in a short video clip hailing the governor as the “hero of the convention”. Okowa’s choice had not gone down well with Wike’s loyalists, who felt the latter ought to have been the vice presidential candidate of the opposition party. How long can former Senate President, Iyorchia Ayu, survive as the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP)?
