'See' Season 3 Review: Jason Momoa Elevates the Explosive Final ... (Collider.com)

In See Season 3, Jason Momoa remains magnificent as a man who realizes the world may soon bring destruction down on those he loves.

Without giving anything away about the circumstances of the conclusion, seeing the full might and power of this weapon is genuinely terrifying. It really feels like the show pulls out all the stops, weaving all the characters together in a final fight for survival. It is all well-directed, with many extended shots letting the action play out and the stunt coordinators really putting on a show. When we do see the explosives in action, everything else gets pushed to the side, as the show continues to build towards an inevitable conflict that is certain to end in blood. Alongside her is Tamacti Jun ( [Christian Camargo](https://collider.com/tag/christian-camargo/)) who is caught between the violent life he used to live that nearly got him killed and the new one he has been reborn into. Even with the diversions and distractions of the political maneuvering, this is the narrative asteroid that is hurtling toward all the characters. What drags it down a bit is how See gets caught up in political machinations that all pale in comparison to this existential threat. At the end of the last season, he had to kill his enemy and brother Edo Voss (Dave Bautista) against his wishes for them to go their separate ways in peace. Thankfully, the show has steadily begun to chart a path that takes this concept and new state of being seriously even as the rest of the story can get a bit silly. [See](https://collider.com/tag/see/), an attempt by [Apple TV+](https://collider.com/tag/apple-tv/) to answer [Game of Thrones](https://collider.com/tag/game-of-thrones/), was a bit of a slog to get through, as everything since has been a vast improvement. Much of this is due to his physical performance where he is able to pull off the delicate dance of more quiet battle scenes right alongside the moments where he lets loose and gets loud. While the show has always been [about the ensemble cast of characters](https://collider.com/see-cast-character-guide-season-3-jason-momoa/) all navigating the harsh world they are living in, he has remained a fascinating center to it all.

The swirls and lines in the middle of the piece are inspired by Cajal’s own drawing of a nerve sliced open. A neural network—artificial intelligence that learns in a way reminiscent of our own brain—was trained to take shapes and turn them into images of nature. “I think a lot of people don’t focus on the fluids because they think they are not so important,” says postdoctoral neurobiologist Daphne Naessens. All told, Hunter hopes her work gives the viewer a sense of the humor and creativity she saw in all of Cajal’s works. “You can see in the profiles,” she says, “his profile is very different on either side.” A web of plants cut through the right profile, and a snake rears from the left, both references to the cover of Cajal’s 1906 Nobel Prize–winning work on the structure of the nervous system. Even the color palette is an ode to Cajal, inspired by the color schemes in some of his artistic works, Hunter says. “Since I was a very small child, I always found this moment as quite transformative, also quite frightening in a way.” The winning Art of Neuroscience submission is the culmination of her project: a film that recorded de Paulis falling asleep among the silver, treelike antennas of the Square Kilometer Array at the Mullard Radio Observatory in Cambridge, England, while her brain activity was converted into radio waves and transmitted directly into space. “I always had a fascination for the moment of falling asleep,” she says. See season 3 review – the gory sci-fi series goes out with a bang (Ready Steady Cut)

This review of the Apple TV+ series See season 3 does not contain any major spoilers or significant plot points.

Some of this dialogue is quite tedious to watch and confusing to follow, but there is also a tender side to the series, with characters supplying sage advice and touching sentiment towards one another. Three years later and the series is drawing to a close, hoping to go out on an almighty bang with a nation on the brink of war. And See is remarkably adept at its world building, creating a blind society that feels authentic and believable. The third season focuses on a vengeful lieutenant, who is desperate to wage war on the whole of civilization with these newly acquired, ungodly explosives. This ensuing war catapults Baba back into high society though, as he attempts to warn his wife, Queen Maghra, of the coming dangers. Our fearless leader, Baba Voss, has since exiled himself to the forest, where he scavenges for food alone, trying to live a quiet existence away from the city’s sinful upheaval.

See's biggest problem is a total lack of vision [Apple TV+ recap] ½ (Cult of Mac)

Oh, brother, here we go again. See is back for its third and final season with more grim, doomy, portentous, heavily filtered, scowling, medieval.

I believe the man can act if someone wants to get out of his way and let him. [Hera Hilmar](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm2623492/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t3)) has allowed her sister, the deposed Queen Kane ( [Sylvia Hoeks](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1679778/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t2)), to not only live and carry her baby to term. I need the writers to free up these actors so they can go back to making things worthy of their considerable talents. And of course — because this show is wall-to-wall tactical geniuses — Tormado doesn’t check to make sure he blew up the right guy before leaving to kill Maghra, Kofun and Haniwa. Trying to make sense of the dialogue on See is like reading a book with size 4 print. Like, for instance, that Nesta Cooper (who plays Haniwa) is actually three years younger than Hera Hilmar (who plays her mother, Maghra). He’s out in the wilderness with his old friends Bow Lion (Yadira Guevara-Prip), Ranger (Michael Raymond-James) and Ranger’s wife Lu (Mainei Kinimaka). Characters still make the dumbest possible decisions because it’s going to move the plot forward. Only a half-dozen of the Trivantian troops make it to safety. They’re going to burn Row Vano alive in front of a crowd. [Wren](https://see.fandom.com/wiki/Wren) (Eden Epstein) has fallen in with a doomed crowd. A handful of people can see, but they tend to keep their capabilities secret so as not to be burned as witches.

See: The Final Season TV Review (JoBlo.com)

We reviews the third and final season of Apple TV's See, starring Jason Momoa.

Momoa channels his experience in Game of Thrones and even the remake of Conan the Barbarian to make Baba Voss a frightening opponent for any of his foes in this world while Momoa still makes him a sympathetic hero. Like AMC’s similar Into the Badlands, See is a niche story that those who found it really enjoyed. But when a Trivantian scientist develops a new and devastating form of sighted weaponry that threatens the future of humanity, Baba returns to Paya in order to protect his tribe once more. The explosives key to this season’s story are massive and the bloodshed is as vicious as ever before as this story reaches its natural conclusion. Over the eight-episode third season, See continues to mine the story for emotional connections between the various characters we have come to know including Tamacti Jun (Christian Camargo), a significant antagonist since the first episode, and Wren (Eden Epstein), a sighted warrior introduced in season two. Mixed in all of this back and forth are the continuing lives of Bab Voss and Maghra’s children Kofun (Archie Madekwe) and Haniwa (Nesta Cooper), both of whom are blessed with the ability to see.

'See' Season 3: Jason Momoa Teases Difficult Ending for Baba Voss (TV Insider)

They got him where he is, so Baba’s transformation is really learning how to see and let go, pause and let go to what is meant to be in the universe. He has to let go of the people that he loves. If I don’t know the season ender, I ask him, theme-wise, what I would want, how I want, and hopefully fuel him with inspiration,” Momoa said of his artistic goals for the show. “In Season 3, almost a year has passed since Baba Voss (Momoa) defeated his nemesis brother, Edo, and bid farewell to his family to live remotely in the forest. His dog, Momoa says, was one of the puppies in Season 1.) I love that it’s her, and I love the way that this season ends, I’ll say that.” But what will Baba have to do to get there? These are wonderful scenes, but as I was reading it, I was literally biting my tongue, and so I wanted to do that in the scene. “What a wonderful gift to be able to play Baba Voss,” he said. Ahead of the See Season 3 premiere, Momoa broke down what Baba will have to learn in order for the action drama to come to a satisfying conclusion. In Season 2, Baba’s brother, Edo Voss (played by [Dave Bautista](https://www.tvinsider.com/network/apple-tv-plus/)), was their enemy. Faced with the existential threat of his wife’s evil sister, Queen Kane, Baba must fight to protect his seeing twin children and their entire community.

See: Jason Momoa Hints at an Emotionally Epic Ending to the Apple ... (CBR)

In a roundtable interview with CBR, Jason Momoa reflects on wrapping the Apple TV+ original series See on its own terms with its final season.

"Me and Anders are like this so much that, on my next series, I'm trying to get Anders to do it," Momoa smiled. With a final question coming from Lash, Momoa revealed he gave a wish list of acting moments for See to showrunner Jonathan Tropper, including giving a rousing speech in Season 2 and having moments that evoked Akira Kurosawa films, grateful that the show afforded him opportunities he never had as an actor before. "I called him up, and he said, 'You're going to go in and do it, and then you're going to go about your day, and you're going to have a great day, but you're going to go in and give everything to it.' I went in, taped it, walked in, and did it. For all the fans who get to watch Season 3 and the future fans who hopefully watch [Seasons] 1 and 2 and continue into Season 3, I'm happy and very thankful to Apple for putting it all together." "I'm excited for people to see it because I had to say bye to him again," Momoa declared. "I was so pissed that I went outside and [was] just bummed that we didn't get it, and I had to deliver all that emotional stuff, but not only that, I had to go back and say goodbye to Baba again," Momoa continued. It's quiet, and I emotionally go through all the action and everything I need to do, and I'm a fucking wreck. [Fast X](https://www.cbr.com/tag/fast-and-furious-10/) in Rome, and I get called in for looping, and they call me to do the last four minutes of that scene," Momoa mused, divulging he injured himself shouting during the audio looping recording. Momoa went so far as to refer to his final, climactic fight sequence in See as "a dream come true," adding that filming it "hurt like hell, and it's worth every bit of it." He noted that he loves that Kane takes on a more central antagonistic role in the season and that he "loves how this season ends." "The cool thing about this season is that my best friend -- the godfather of my children, the reason that I've booked everything from Drogo and Aquaman is Michael Raymond James -- I got [to] cast him in as my best friend [who] I trained with, and we have a big history together with," Momoa explained about the changes Baba faces at the start of Season 3 in response to a question from Jolie Lash from TheWrap. Rama, one of the puppies in the first season from the bad dogs, we raised and trained him to be my support and fight with me.
