The Hibs fans are in uproar. Debate will rage on as to whether Colak should've been awarded a penalty or not. Rangers started dominating the ball but couldn't do anything with their possession. Welshman Matondo manages to get to the byline and whip a low cross into Hibs' box. He fed the ball to Antonio Colak who attempted a shot but he scuffed it and Hibs remained safe. Tavernier did well to dink a little ball into Tom Lawrence who found himself in loads of space at the edge of the box. Lee Johnson is looking to change to a back four rather than the back five which has been working fairly well in the game so far! The Rangers captain lands on the ball at the edge of Hibs' box. The right-back took a short run up and slotted the penalty to David Marshall's left. What a whirlwind finish to the first-half! The Rangers striker lowered his head into Rocky's boot as the Hibs defender went to clear a long ball. He gets to the byline and takes his time before drilling a low cross along Rangers' goalmouth.

Hibs have found scoring goals to be tough so far this season and have not managed more than one goal in any of their three Scottish Premiership games so far. They have had success in recent visits to Easter Road, winning their last two trips to the ground and not suffering a loss since 2016, when both clubs were in the second tier. Joshua Barrie is on the man-by-mans after today's hard-fought point in Leith.

Did well to chase every ball and that did lead to the first-half penalty. Failing to shoot and then playing a loose ball to Kent in the box, after failing to capitalise on a three-vs-two. He was constantly cajoling and trying to speed up the play, moving the ball forward whenever possible and constantly providing a passing option. However, he provided a real moment of quality on the overlap to assist Lawrence. Josh Campbell scored a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser as Hibernian denied nine-man Rangers victory in a dramatic Premiership showdown.

The visitors started to crank up the pressure towards half-time and Tavernier flashed a half-volley just wide from the edge of the box in the 42nd minute. The hosts furiously protested at the decision but Tavernier kept his cool to slot home the spot-kick and give the visitors the lead.

Afield for less than a quarter of an hour the Colombian can’t have been personally wound up. Still well within the Hibs half, the tackle was certainly not sanctionable as a clear goalscoring opportunity. The decision to turn back and play the ball to David Marshall sowed a seed of doubt in Rocky Bushiri’s mind and, as Colak moved to close down, the officials deemed the Belgian’s tug sufficient to merit a penalty. The news that the captain had signed a new contract last week was undoubtedly good for Rangers. Patently overweight and yet to start a game this season, this latest misdemeanour will only cement Antonio Colak’s status as the starting forward for the foreseeable future. Chris Young's Short, But Vital Rangers To-Do List (Sports Illustrated)

The Rangers' new baseball head has to accomplish these things in the coming months to prepare Texas for 2023.

But now Young has to set a new direction for the franchise, hire a manager and prepare to do what is necessary in the offseason in just a few months. The Rangers believe they’ll be a player in the offseason free-agent and trade markets, though the financial outlay is not likely to match the half-billion committed to sign Corey Seager and Marcus Semien. To be fair, the Rangers have probably been planning ahead for the offseason. Beasley should be given every chance to convince Young and the baseball operations group that he’s the right guy for the job. Pitching will be the priority, especially in the starting rotation. The pair essentially cut off the Major League track for middle-infield prospects like Justin Foscue, the Rangers No. The Rangers scouting department has done a good job of restocking the system that was well understocked just a few years ago. Does Young go with a first-time manager or a veteran with championship experience? [Jon Daniels](https://www.si.com/mlb/rangers/news/ray-davis-firing-jon-daniels-chris-young-texas-mlb-transactions). There are already four openings on the market — Philadelphia, Toronto and the Los Angeles Angels. By the time next spring rolls around, Young is likely to have a staff that matches his vision. He’s in the driver’s seat, and every decision the Rangers make moving forward will have his full fingerprints.

Otto’s only run allowed was the result of a Seager error in the fifth. But Smetzler, who worked his first game out of the bullpen this season, gave up a single to Nathaniel Lowe, which glanced off Smeltzer’s glove and slid just under shortstop Carlos Correa’s glove. Otto got out of the jam by getting Byron Buxton to line out to left fielder Bubba Thompson. The Rangers regained the lead in the sixth off Twins reliever Justin Smetzler, who replaced starter Chris Archer after five innings. The Rangers are now 8-25 in one-run games this season. Alfredo Morelos is no use to Rangers right now and I think I know ... (Scottish Daily Record)

It's a definite red card for my old team-mate qand I think it's a culmination of a few different things going on.

With Rangers 2-1 up at that point, it had a huge impact on the game. And for the next two weeks, the manager won’t be able to get him the game time he needs due to suspension. Gio alluded to that in the build-up to the PSV Champions League first leg. He clearly felt he wasn’t physically up to doing the job he needed him to do. He looked, he meant it and swung his arm in the boy’s face. I had a bad feeling that if Rangers’ league performances didn’t improve quickly, they’d leave themselves open to a game like yesterday’s. He didn’t help his team yesterday but the referee had a massive impact on the outcome. But then he had a proper swing and was in full control. Let’s be clear, [Willie Collum](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/all-about/willie-collum) had a shocker yesterday in the 2-2 draw and played a huge part in [Rangers](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/all-about/rangers-fc) not beating Hibs. But for a lot of that time, he’s had things his own way. He had a wee go at Marijan Cabraja initially with his arm but it was more to get himself set and protect the ball. When Gio looks at both the red cards, I’ve no doubt they’ll appeal John Lundstram’s earlier in the game and it will be – and should be – rescinded.
