10 years since starting his celebrated 'Ornithographies', Xavi Bou discusses the impact of climate change on bird migrations.

The birds arrive in April and have chicks around June to July, nesting in the nooks and crannies of houses. The idea for ‘Ornithographies’ came while out on a walk in 2012. The iridescent birds only flock in winter, around October and February in the Mediterranean. It feels poetic and ecological in the way it draws out the links between birds and branches. This diverse fanbase speaks to the way ‘Ornithographies’ hovers between art and documentary. He began drawing them with his children, and learning their calls - a practice he recommends for anyone who wants to “feel you have superpowers.” During lockdown, in a flat on the Costa Brava, Xavi Bou became even more obsessed with birds.

Wembley Stadium's inaugural event came in April 1923, and saw Bolton Wanderers face off against West Ham, both hoping to win the FA Cup for the first time.

2018’s Superclasico was the first one ever to take place in an international competition, but it became a bit more international than expected. Madrid were through to the next round. It’s hard to take a snapshot of one of Messi’s great ever goals. Even 17 years later, Liverpool’s comeback against AC Milan – and the fact that Jerzy Dudek inspired them to victory – feels like a fever dream. Crammed into the stadium was a scarcely-believable attendance that was officially listed as 126,047.
