Chelsea have reportedly stepped up their pursuit of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and have submitted an offer worth nearly €14 million for the veteran striker.

The Blues are also willing to double Aubameyang’s salary, which has temped the Gabonese international. The journalist also reports that Thomas Tuchel is pushing for the transfer, and wants Chelsea to match Barcelona’s asking price of €25 million. Barcelona are willing to continue negotiations with Chelsea as Memphis Depay’s potential move to Juventus has been halted.

However, the signing of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha has meant that Depay has fallen down the pecking order at Camp Nou and has been told to leave the club.

The report states that Barcelona have agreed to grant Depay a letter of freedom which will allow him to join the Bianconeri on a free transfer. Depay joined Barcelona only last summer, arriving on a free transfer after his contract with Lyon had run out. This claim comes from Mundo Deportivo, who state that the Depay has been given the go-ahead to join the Italians by Barça, with the Catalan giants ready to hand him the letter of freedom and let him leave as a free agent.
