Been told it's now really close.— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) #FCB One would imagine that any transfer fee we might charge would not be too big anyway, despite our general annoyance with the Blaugrana. Business between (or involving both) Chelsea and Barcelona may not be quite done just yet, as while César Azpilicueta told them to go away before putting pen to paper on a two-year Chelsea contract (YES DAVE!), Marcos Alonso’s long-rumored and long-expected move appears to still be on.

Marcos Alonso waits for Thomas Tuchel green light as Barcelona ... (SPORTbible)

Barcelona are closing in on a deal to sign Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso this summer, as they await a green light from Thomas Tuchel.

The deal will likely see them lose Alonso now, with the latest reports stating that a move to Barcelona is close for the wing-back. However, with Chelsea closing in on a deal for Brighton and Hove Albion defender Marc Cucurella, this should free Alonso and allow him to leave the club. The Spaniard, who has just a year left on his deal at Stamford Bridge, has been heavily linked with a move to La Liga this summer.

Barcelona seeking to accelerate pursuit of Chelsea defender (A Stamford Bridge Too Far)

Barcelona want to accelerate the pursuit of veteran Chelsea left wing-back, Marcos Alonso, to reinforce their left-back position.

We cannot expect a huge fee for Alonso but we will be shipping out a player who doesn’t really have much time left in the top-flight. He still can do a job as the backup but we have other options and with Alonso wanting to leave, it is best that we move on. Barcelona are interested in signing Alonso and are set to make an offer for the defender.

However, Tuchel will not want three players for the left-hand side of his backline or at wing-back in his squad, something which will almost certainly lead to Alonso being provided with permission to sign for Barcelona. That may still prove to be the case, and it remains to be seen what fee Chelsea are prepared to accept for the 31-year-old. Alonso has also previously acknowledged that he would like the opportunity to play in his homeland, his solitary appearance in Spanish football coming for Real Madrid in 2010.

Presumably the two clubs had hammered out the majority of the terms, and while there will be some haggling and tweaking still to come, it shouldn’t take long. Another element apparently lacking is Thomas Tuchel’s green light, but we can’t see that being a sticking point now the Chelsea boss has a clear upgrade on the books. Chelsea will want the Spaniard off their books now, and Barcelona will want him in Xavi’s squad as soon as possible to start his integration.

Chelsea transfer news: Marcos Alonso exit almost agreed, as ... (Teamtalk.com)

Marcos Alonso is set to move on from Chelsea quickly after the arrival of Marc Cucurella, according to reports claiming his transfer to Barcelona is close.

Alonso has been looking for a way out of Chelsea this summer. And it now seems a case of will, rather than would. The Spaniard is in line to sign a contract for two seasons, with the option of a third year. There had been a feeling that the Blues may stand in Barcelona’s way for both, after the Catalan club hijacked their pursuit of Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde, but common sense seems to have prevailed for Alonso. In that regard, there have been plenty of rumours reflecting interest from Barcelona. It has been a long time since Alonso played club football in La Liga, but he could now add to the one appearance he made in Spanish football with Real Madrid. Marcos Alonso is set to move on from Chelsea pretty quickly after the arrival of Marc Cucurella, according to reports suggesting his transfer to Barcelona is close after all.

Marcos Alonso asks not to be selected for Everton game (BeSoccer EN)

Chelsea full-back Marcos Alonso asked Thomas Tuchel to leave him out of the game against Everton to not interfere with his signing for Barcelona.

Last season, the Spaniard played a total of 48 matches, he scored five goals and he gave six assists. If this deal is confirmed, Marcos knows that he will be officially out of action for several weeks because Barca cannot register the five signings, which were announced some days back, and he will give them priority. The player seemed to be at Thomas Tuchel's disposition, but he prefers not to take a risk.
